safe to see your dentist

Why It’s Safe to See Your Dentist

To Our Favorite Long Beach Patients,

We hope this finds you all happy and healthy, preparing for the upcoming holiday season.

This year has definitely presented us all with some unique and difficult challenges, but it’s still safe to see your dentist!

We want to take a moment to provide you with an update about how we are continuing to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, keep our patients’ health on track, and make sure that our team goes above and beyond to protect each other during appointments in the office.

COVID-19 Policies and Procedures

When we reopened in July, we set in place some policies to help us adhere to the safety and social distancing protocols set forth in the reopening guidelines.  These policies are still in effect, and we have added other cleaning and sterilization processes to ensure compliance with all CDC, ADA, and CDA recommendations and requirements.

  • Please plan to arrive 10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time.
  • On the day of your appointment, you will be asked to complete a screening questionnaire prior to entering the office.  When you arrive for your appointment, remain in your car and please call the office to let us know you’re here.  We will text or call you when we are ready to seat you.
  • We will take your temperature (Touchless) before you enter the office.
  • Anyone coming into the office will be required to wear a face mask and use hand sanitizer/wash hands upon entry. One parent may accompany their child through the check-in process. We ask that no additional siblings or family accompany you inside the office.
  • Appointments will be managed to allow for physical distancing between patients. This will result in fewer options for appointment times, however, we are extending our hours in an effort to accommodate our patients’ schedules.
  • As the number of appointments available per day are limited, we now require a 72-hour notification in order to make any changes to your appointment.
  • We may opt to use telehealth (virtual or phone appointments) in order to limit the patient’s need to physically be in the office.  If this is the case, we will provide you with further instructions.
  • We will contact you two to three days before your visit to discuss payment options for your upcoming appointment as we want your contact with our front office to be minimal.

It’s Safe To See Your Dentist: Superior Sterilization and Cleanliness

Our prior standards for sterilization and cleanliness were already equal to or better than that which have just been set forth by the CDC and ADA, but we’re taking it up another notch by continually disinfecting all common areas, have added HEPA air purifiers in every room and additional PPE components, as required.

Our newest addition to our disinfection and sterilization protocol is our Fogging Machine! To clear viral particles from the air, we fog the entire office twice daily using a solution of hypochlorous acid, which is 100% safe, non-irritating and not corrosive. Various concentrations of hypochlorous acid are used in the food industry, for eye and wound care and as a surface disinfectant. So, if it gets on your skin or in your eyes, it will not burn.

We’re very happy to report that there have been no incidences of COVID transmission within our practice. Our thanks go out to each and every one of you, not only for understanding the need for these additional protocols, but for cooperating with them. Let’s continue to do our best to keep each other safe.

Your health, as always, is our number one priority.
